What is Naturopathy?

The basis of Naturopathy is the belief that our body has an innate ability to heal itself. Naturopaths view the body, mind and spirit as a complex whole and disease as the result of an imbalance on all these levels. So to achieve true healing, each level must be treated.

Naturopathy searches beyond the symptoms to the actual causes of a particular illness, looking deeper into the presenting health problem and the reasons behind it.

Our university qualified naturopaths use herbal medicine, nutrition, supplements, dietary and lifestyle changes and homeopathy to restore the body's innate healing potential.

How often will I need to come?
Regular visits help you stay on track and discuss any issues that arise from your treatment plan. Naturopathy works best as preventative medicine and aims to keep you in the best possible health.

Natural therapies do not offer a quick fix - so while natural medicine can provide immediate relief, to really address what is going on and to prevent it happening again, we need to address the underlying causes and this takes time. Therefore natural medicine works best if you commit to weekly or fortnightly appointments until treatment is well established and then monthly or as needed.

Once you reach your health goals we recommend you join our Wellness Program to ensure you stay fit and healthy into the future.

What is herbal medicine?

Herbs have been used in both eastern and western medicine for hundreds of years. In fact, most of today's pharmaceutical medicines are based on herbs.

Up until the 1930's most medicines we now attribute to orthodox or conventional medicine were actually of herbal origin. It was not until the refinement of chemical technology that the use of herbs in medicine diminished.

Today the commonly used Asprin is derived from the willow plant, and even very modern drugs such as Tamiflu (birdflu vaccine) has a herb as its main ingredient. Orthodox medicine still relies heavily on herbs for pharmaceutical drugs.

The benefit of herbs is they can be combined in a herbal extract so they are specific for your needs. Unlike pharmaceutical drugs they are free from unpleasant side effects, and are safe to use long term.

Women's Health, Naturally has a complete herbal dispensary with a wide range of high quality herbs to treat every health condition.

What is Nutrition Therapy?

At Women's Health, Naturally we view food as medicine - everything you eat has a profound effect on your health and wellbeing - in other words you are what you eat!

Nutrition is the foundation of good health and we will help you understand the fundamentals of food and nutrition and the effect on your physical and emotional wellbeing.

We analyse every patient's diet and recommend changes that can help reduce illness symptoms, improve general health, enhance mood and raise energy levels.

Changing dietary habits that you may have had since childhood is not always easy to do so we work with each patient on an individual basis to form a plan that is both suitable and achievable.

What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy offers a very powerful means of stimulating the body's innate healing power, giving it a boost when it is not coping - which is obviously the case in disease.

Homeopathy promises a cure that is safe, rapid and gentle. It was formally introduced to the world when a German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann, published the 'Organon of Medicine' in 1810. The principles that Hahnemann set forth in this book still apply today.

Homeopathy is based on the 'Law of Similars'. This means that a substance which in large doses causes the symptoms of an illness, can be used in minute doses to relieve those same symptoms. So, for example, a homeopathic medicine used for insomnia contains minute amounts of coffee.

Homeopathy is acknowledged by the World Health Organisation as a valid form of health care.
